Around the Hotel
The most important and beautiful walkable destination from the China Grain Hotel is the magnificent Huangxing Park located right next to the hotel. Many rooms of the hotel directly face this large urban park with its beautiful central lake, traditional style pavilions, and green lawns. One can reach its scenic walking and jogging paths by crossing a small road outside the hotel in just a few minutes. It is perfect for a relaxed morning walk, or a boat ride on its lake, or simply sitting on one of its benches away from the city's hustle.
Another five-to ten-minute leisurely walk from the hotel brings one to Huangxing Park metro station on line 8. That is such an unbeatable benefit because this particular subway line happens to be directly and efficiently connected with some of Shanghai’s most iconic destinations. You can take Line 8 directly to People's Square (the city's central hub, home to the Shanghai Museum) and to the Laoximen station, which is a short walk from the historic Yu Garden and the Old Town.
The immediate area is more residential and quiet, a fifteen to twenty-minute walk brings you to the wildly commercial Wujiaochang area. A major commercial and university hub, often referred to as the "second city center," with several large, modern shopping malls, a huge underground food court, and an endless array of restaurants and shops. Offers the guests a great very local (non-touristy) area for dining and shopping.
